Julia Niles: Lead Guide Bio:
Julia@rockies-ice.com
Julia has been guiding for ten years and one of the few women to hold the IFMGA Mountain Guide certification. She has guided in the Tetons of Wyoming, on Denali in Alaska, Aconcagua in Argentina, and the Waddington Range in British Columbia to name a few.
Julia’s talents do not stop at guiding. She is a sponsored athlete who travels the world to climb and ski. Her most recent trips took her skiing in Slovenia and “country routing” in South Africa. She has many climbing and skiing firsts including the first all female descent of the Grand Teton (13,770’) and the first free ascent of the Direct South Buttress of Tiedeman (ED2 5.11 AI3 1600m) in the Waddington Range.
Julia began ice climbing in the Colorado Rockies and has been all over the world finding icy lines to climb since. She is thrilled to be a part of Rockies Ice Specialists as the climbing here is as she says, “better than anywhere else I’ve been!”
