Which is your dream climb?

Curtain Call 125m WI 6

So you want to find out what hard ice is about? Check out the guidebook description of this route “climb psycho bobbles of unconsolidated ice, funky overhanging mushrooms and steep pillars” This fearsome and awe-inspiring route offers two full rope lengths of engaging climbing, demanding your best. Step up to the plate!

French Reality 150m 5.8 WI 6

An ultimate climb, pure quality. Its difficulty depends on how well it forms up, which varies considerably from year to year. What remains constant is the excellent climbing in a stellar position. Thin ice with a few rock moves thrown in, stubbies and pitons see us through the lower chimney. Then steep exposed waterfall ice (90+degrees) bring us up to a cave high above the valley below.

Riptide 225m WI 6-7

This alpine ice route is best described as sustained weirdness. Tool placements can be difficult and screws are often in bad or plate ice. It demands delicate and thoughtful technique to the very finish. An real out there climb.

Sea of Vapors 165m WI 6

“Climbing frozen mist up an alien landscape” At the time of its first ascent perhaps the hardest ice climb on the planet. These days difficulty is condition dependent ranging from WI5-7. It still remains a much sought after tick The exposure found 4000ft above the valley floor on this historic line is mind numbing.

Weeping Pillar 400m WI 6

Not tuckered out after climbing 4 pitches of Grade 5 ice on Lower Weeping Wall? Good cause the Upper Pillar is guaranteed to thrash you. 4 more pitches culminating in a grade 6 overhanging mushy lacey finish.

Mixed Monster 120m M8 WI 5

You need to be rad to get on this beast. New School multipitch mixed. Three pitches of bolt protected overhanging rock lead to a hanging curtain. Steep and exposed, this is one of the masterpieces of modern Rockies Mixed climbing.

More Mixed- Stairway to Heaven, Jacobs Ladder, Suffer Machine

More Ice-Hydrophobia, Acid Howl, Nemesis.

See Waterfall Ice Climbs in the Canadian Rockies and Mixed Climbs in the Rockies for more route ideas.
